Sarah is an uninvited guest on Turtle Island. She was born Treaty No. 13 People. With ancestors from Toronto and Newfoundland, her settler origins are from England, Ireland, and Scotland. As a survivor of childhood trauma and suicide loss, her healing journey began when she moved to Western Canada in 2012 after a difficult divorce.

Sarah has nine years of experience as a Law Clerk assisting senior litigation lawyers in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. Once she began her healing journey, the challenge of navigating toxic work environments led to burnout and her decision to leave the legal industry. Since then, Sarah has pivoted her career to grant writing and storytelling. Sarah graduated from the Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University and studied Social Work briefly before launching her freelance business SJT Writing.

Sarah was living in Gleichen, AB when she started SJT Writing in 2021. When she became a creative entrepreneur, she began volunteering with Tribe Artist Society and eventually became the Treasurer. Simultaneously, she was in Cultivating Safe Spaces training with Elaine Alec and was a part of the founding cohort. Sarah strives for a decolonial and straightforward approach to grant writing, editing, and creative entrepreneurship. Her goal is to be a trustworthy collaborator & advocate for humans telling untold stories.

Sarah is passionate about Cultivating Safe Spaces facilitation work for settlers, survivors of childhood trauma and suicide loss, creative entrepreneurs, organizations and law offices. To get in touch with Sarah email her at info@sjtwriting.ca
