Ian brings over three decades of expertise in Emergency Management, supported by a Master’s Degree in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University. He currently serves as the Director of Indigenous Partnerships and Reconciliation for the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Additionally, Ian is also a sessional instructor, teaching Leadership at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in the Disaster and Emergency Management Program.

As a Certified Master Facilitator for the Cultivating Safe Spaces framework, Ian focuses his facilitation work within government and academic contexts. However, he is also open to public speaking, collaboration, mentorship, and discussions about the framework’s application and impact.

Ian is a citizen of the Carcross Tagish First Nation, one of the inland Tlingit Nations located in the southern Yukon. He currently resides as an uninvited guest in the W̱SÁNEĆ territories on southern Vancouver Island, BC, where he lives with his amazing wife and their small, feisty dog.
