Ian capitalizes on three decades of experience in the Emergency Management field, including a Master’s Degree from Royal Roads University in their Disaster and Emergency Management program. He is currently the A/Director of Reconciliation Initiatives for the BC Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness and a sessional instructor in Leadership for the Disaster and Emergency Management curriculum at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

In 2023, Ian became a dedicated Cultivating Safe Spaces training facilitator. And while he is not offering facilitation outside of his current roles, he’s open to public speaking, collaboration, mentorship and conversation.

Ian’s lineage comes from the Carcross Tagish First Nation, one of the inland Tlingit Nations located in the southern Yukon however he currently lives as an uninvited guest in the W̱SÁNEĆ territories on southern Vancouver Island, BC, with his amazing wife and a small feisty dog.
