Tan̂si, Catherine nisihkâson, I am European settler and Métis, and a member of the Metis Nation of BC. I am grateful to be born, raised, and still live and work on the ancestral lands of the Dane Zaa in Treaty 8 Territory, also part of the historic Métis Nation homeland, in Fort St John, BC.
As a certified Cultivating Safe Spaces facilitator, I offer a unique perspective and knowledge of how innovation interacts with decolonial frameworks.
I believe we contribute the best of who we are and what we know when we feel safe to show up in spaces as ourselves, and when we strive to create that safety for others.
I recently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University, with a focus on communicating in Sustainability and Indigenous contexts.
As a dynamic and creative entrepreneur, I have managed and co-owned a busy cafe, became an ambassador for a community energy conservation project, and have facilitated food security programming as well as arts programming for students.
As a textile artist and printmaker, I have also taught creative team-building workshops for diverse audiences, and I am able to incorporate creative activity into my CSS facilitation when desired.
I am interested in delivering training in spaces where I have familiarity and experience including non-profit, education, hospitality, and sustainable construction sectors, as well as municipal and provincial government spaces.
Catherine she/her specializes in CSS Training for corporate, schools, government workers, social media community influencers, front line workers, post secondary students, youth workers and teachers. She is located in British Columbia and offers in-person CSS training within British Columbia and virtual training.
